§ 1-14. Amendments to Code; effect of new ordinances; amendatory language.

Latest version.
  • (a)

All ordinances passed subsequent to the adoption of this Code which amend, repeal or in any way affect this Code may be numbered in accordance with the numbering system of this Code and printed for inclusion in this Code. In the case of repealed chapters, sections or subsections, or any part thereof, by subsequent ordinances, such repealed portions may be excluded from this Code by the omission thereof from reprinted pages affected thereby. The subsequent ordinances, as numbered and printed or as omitted, in the case of repeal, shall be prima facie evidence of the adoption of such subsequent ordinances, or of repeal of ordinances, until such time as this Code and subsequent ordinances numbered or omitted are readopted as a part of this Code by the Village Board.

    (b)

Amendments to any of the provisions of this Code may be made by amending such provisions by specific reference to the section number of this Code in the following language: "Section _____ of the Municipal Code, Village of Glenview, Illinois, is hereby amended to read as follows:…." The new provisions shall then be set out in full.

    (c)

If a new section not then existing in the Code is to be added, the following language may be used: "The Municipal Code, Village of Glenview, Illinois, is hereby amended by adding a section (or article or chapter) to be numbered _____, which section (or article or chapter) reads as follows:…." The provisions shall then be set out in full.

    (d)

There shall be one official copy of this Code. The official copy shall be maintained by the Village clerk so that all amendments thereto and all general ordinances thereafter passed may be posted and inserted in their proper places within the Code.
